On 20 December 2012, China's premier financial portal, Hexun.com, hosted the first International Financial Annual Champion Awards in recognition of the exemplary achievements of the Chinese enterprises in the international arena, while at the same time evaluating of the Chinese people’s outstanding performances on the new global economic map. This large-scale Internet contest was jointly organized by the Hexun.com, China Securities Market Research and Design Center, and the SEEC Media Group. They selected the champion by using an online voting platform and by using the most equitable way to select the most distinguish overseas financial enterprises, the overseas listed companies, and the overseas people in the financial field -- all with the purpose of bearing witness to China's new stage of development.

"China’s Financial Champion Awards," which takes place annually, is one of the events that has always garnered the most attention among financial circles. The 2012 "International Financial Annual Champion Awards" were part of a series of the 10th China’s Financial Annual Champion Awards organized by the Hexun.com. The ceremonial theme, "Dancing on the Shoulders of Giants," marked the opening of the gala. The grand awards ceremony, held at the Conrad Hotel, Admiralty, Hong Kong, may have started a new trend in the financial industry. Many of the leading figures from different fields showed up to add their support. The list of VIPs including Yan Feng, president of the Chinese Securities Association of Hong Kong; Dr Jun Ma, chief economist at the Deutsche Bank Greater China; Frank Song, vice chairman of Chinese Financial Association of Hong Kong; Tan Yueheng, chief executive officer of Bocom International Holdings Company Ltd.; and Wang Zeji, director of Asia-Pacific Institute of Business, among others. The gala attracted a lot of media attention and the attendance of these financial heavyweights placed an added emphasis on the recognition as well as authoritative position of the event.
