In order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, organized by the Hong Kong Billiard Sports Control Council Co. Ltd. (HKBSCC) and subvented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), the Hong Kong Masters 2017 was staged from 20 to 23 July 2017. Being the first event in Hong Kong to be sanctioned by World Snooker Limited (WSL), it was the most-anticipated snooker event in Hong Kong in decades. The contestants have a strong lineup, including world-class champions such as O'Sullivan, Selby, Higgins, Trump, Hawkins and Marco Fu. Acetop Precious Metals Limited exclusively sponsored Mr. Barry Hawkins, ranking sixth place in the world and a hard-working and determined player, providing full support to the world snooker event.

Hawkins had just won the 2017 Snooker World Grand Prix in February this year. He insisted on participating in snooker competitions for years to practice his skills, and his perseverance and high-quality skills have won unanimous praise from the media. The day before the game, Hawkins visited Acetop Precious Metals Limited to thank the company for its sponsorship support. Chief Executive Officer of Acetop met him in person and took him to visit headquarter of the group. Hawkins expressed his praise and admiration of professional and rigorous attitude of all staff in Acetop, and believed this spirit is consistent with his mood when facing the pool. He hoped Acetop could provide more support to billiard games and promote the development of billiard industry in Hong Kong. Hawkins also indicated that he would definitely come to visit Acetop should the opportunity arise.

On the day of the competition, Hawkins first played against Hong Kong player Marco Fu, which was the first battle of the Masters. Chief Executive Officer was present to show his support and Hawkins put on the badge of Acetop Precious Metals Limited. The competition was fierce and Hawkins was in the lead with a strong momentum of 3:1. After the opponent catching up, Hawkins eventually lost to the host Marco Fu with 3:5. However, even when he was caught up in a strong way, Hawkins kept his spirit of calmness and composure holding on to the end which was a glorious defeat.

The four-day "Hong Kong Masters 2017" ignited the enthusiasm of Hong Kong citizens for billiards. As the leader of precious metals industry in Hong Kong and the only financial enterprise sponsoring contestants, Acetop Precious Metals Limited expected to take this opportunity to promote sports development in Hong Kong and meanwhile taking advantage of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of HKSAR deliver a sports spirit of persevering to all walks of life and create a better Hong Kong.
